Leamouth North Bridge
A new pedestrian and cycle lift bridge that links the Leamouth Peninsula to Canning Town Station over the River Lea in East London.
Davies Maguire undertook the structural engineering design for a single span bridge over the River Lea, in East London. The span is achieved using a single steel truss and a box girder deck that sits to one side. The stairways and lifts at either abutment provide access to the deck level.
A critical part of the brief was that Leamouth North Bridge lifts to provide river access, required by the Port of London Authority. The bridge therefore rises 4m vertically using hydraulic pumps.
