We are very pleased to announce that the Corniche has been shortlisted for the 2017 Concrete Society awards. The project showcases the capabilities and flexibility of the material, from the RC basement box through to the slender post-tensioned concrete superstructure slabs.
We worked hard in collaboration with the client and contractor to tailor the construction sequence to streamline the build process, including using innovative buttress pile walls retaining a historic rail viaduct, and areas of top-down construction to minimise temporary works as well as facilitate logistics and safety during construction.
The signature profile of the buildings delivers ‘cinemascope’ views from the curvilinear balconies formed as PT slab cantilevers. We were able to tailor the column sections at each level to suit the various uses through the building – basement car parking with office and leisure above, through to the residential superstructure.
We very proud to have been part of the team delivering this signature development and are looking forward to the final awards announcement in November. For more information see www.concrete-awards.org.uk
