Rolling Stock Yard
Rolling Stock Yard is a part 6, part 8 story office block located to the North of Kings Cross. The brief was to create a modern and trendy office block.
The scope of the Rolling Stock Yard project included the demolition of an existing building and construction of a new eight storey office building in its place. The new-build concrete frame building includes approximately 8,000sqm of commercial space, affordable workspace on the lower levels, retail facilities at ground floor and a single storey basement for back-of-house plant areas.
The architectural design involves the use of exposed structural elements and services throughout. Davies Maguire have therefore used concrete flat slabs and cylindrical columns to provide large clear spans, reducing internal columns and maximizing floor area to create a flexible, practical commercial space.
